Privacy Auditor (On-Site)
Summary Significant exposure to HIPAA privacy and security regulations, internal auditing, assisting with release of information and HIPAA compliance. Organizational skills to effectively demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks during job performance. Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service to include ability to interact effectively, demonstrate satisfactory oral and written communications skills when interacting with all customers, including patients, peers, and external requestors. Ability to maintain confidentially and adhere to federal, state, HIPAA, and company policy regarding privacy of patient health information. Responsibilities Thoroughly reviews the validity of all medical record/billing record requests to ensure the requests/authorizations are in compliance with State and Federal laws; facilitates the compilation of requested documentation to ensure appropriate completion of the requests and/or provides direction for completion to the entity. Provides timely and advance communication with peers, other departments, and entities to ensure deadlines are met. Ensures requests for medical records/bills are logged accurately into the Accounting of Disclosure log within 24 business hours. Independently makes routine decisions involving verification of appropriate authorizations, prioritizing and categorizing requests, and problem solving in customer service for internal and external customers. Supports department activities such as answering phones, responding to emails, providing customer service, and performing back up functions for other positions in the department as needed. Provide ongoing training and education to ensure compliance with HIPAA release of information/privacy and security regulations as indicated. Maintains a working knowledge of Federal and State privacy and security laws, regulations, and policies applicable by LHC. Able to manage multiples projects concurrently, while maintaining conscientious attention to detail. Positively assist and maintain flexibility with other privacy tasks assigned.
