The Team

The Privacy and Data Protection Engineering team ensures safe & efficient data use across Netflix. We work closely with our stunning colleagues in Legal in providing privacy engineering guidance, support and assurance throughout the company. The Role

We are looking for a Privacy Engineer to join our Data Protection team with an exciting mission of protecting all data at Netflix! This role focuses on Analytics Engineering within the Data Protection program where you’ll work alongside Security and Privacy Engineers, Software and Data Engineers, Product Managers and Legal.

In this role you will use your privacy domain and analytics engineering expertise to provide actionable insights through metrics, dashboards and visualizations. You’ll analyze and improve metadata information about Netflix’s data assets. Your insights will influence decision making from individual capability development to the overall program strategy. You’ll spearhead the creation of new analytics workflows and tools, and establish strong partnerships with stakeholders to enable data-driven ways of working. Your work will span across the Data Protection program from data classification and policy development to control and capability design, implementation and rollout.

Desired Background:

You’re passionate about privacy and data protection!

You’re fluent in SQL and Python (or similar languages).

You’re familiar with data cataloging, classification, retention and access control approaches and best practices at scale.

You have experience with data engineering technologies (e.g. Spark) and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau). 

You utilize a variety of communication and collaboration tools and methods to facilitate effective alignment with cross-functional stakeholders, including legal.

You’re comfortable operating in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is 100,000 - $720,000.
