About this opportunity:

Ericsson and some of the world’s largest telecom operators have announced a new venture to combine and sell network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) on a global scale to spur innovation in digital services. The venture will drive implementation and access to common APIs from multiple telecom service providers to a broader ecosystem of developer platforms. We are seeking a General Counsel for the new venture, which will be 50% owned by Ericsson and 50% owned by telecom operators.

The newly formed company will provide network APIs to a broad ecosystem of developer platforms, including hyperscalers (HCPs), Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) providers, System Integrators (SIs) and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), based on existing industry-wide CAMARA APIs (the open-source project driven by the GSMA and the Linux Foundation). Vonage and Google Cloud will partner with the new company, providing access to their ecosystems of millions of developers as well as their partners.


What you will do:

Rollout of privacy policies across NewCo and related entitiesBuilding NewCo privacy requirements and controls, support their implementation. Ongoing monitoring of privacy requirements and controlsBuilding privacy by design into products and services through proactive privacy impact assessments and corporate function privacy assessments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, HR, Finance).Support commercial teams by providing privacy advice and negotiating relevant data protection agreements with resellers, suppliers, vendors and customers.Monitoring, communicating and adjusting to developments in global privacy legal frameworks as well as in relevant industry best practices and standards.Identifying strategic opportunities and communicating them to relevant business teams. Promoting and maintaining privacy awareness across NewCo and delivering effective, role-based privacy training programs.  Identify and manage, directly or through external advisors, contracting, risk analysis, regulatory compliance, and governance in countries throughout the worldManaging consultants and outside counsel.
 

The skills you bring:

Required

10+ years of experience working in privacy with in-house experience in a privacy department a requirementExpert legal or regulatory skills in privacy and data protection in the US, the UK and the EU Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems in a complex technology and business environment by creating simple, repeatable and actionable solutions and policy positions. High degree of familiarity with risk analysis frameworks, communications regulatory compliance, and governance.

Excellent communication, presentation, public speaking and people skillsComfortable with ambiguity. Persistence to drive change over timeResults oriented, proactive, responsible, pragmatic and ethical person with a strong interest in technologies and their societal impact.Experience with communication APIs a plus.
