We are seeking a motivated professional that will work directly with the Transition Cell Lead, the NSIN Venture Portfolio Director, and the Transition Cell Private Capital Principal to build relationships with national security-oriented, dual-use private capital sources and institutional investors as well as large prime contractors and assist the Private Capital Principal in working with Department of Defense customers. The Transition Cell provides support for early-stage ventures and teams formed during or that participated in NSIN programs. These ventures often have never raised institutional capital and need guidance to navigate the venture capital and federal contracting spaces to help them grow, scale, and deliver solutions that are critical to national security.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist early-stage dual-use and defense focused companies in the maturation of their venture / private-capital readiness.
Support the coordination of private capital engagements by acting as a POC for teams and companies that that are seeking to raise capital.Maintain a database of investors ensuring NSIN’s system of record has accurate and timely information for each investor in its network.Assist in the development and delivery of NSIN private capital regular deliverables including but not limited to monthly investor newsletter, monthly investor spotlight, monthly dual-use venture showcase, and deal flow calls.Track and record investments in dual-use ventures, including NSIN alumni, and support the development of reports and analyses on that investment activity.Provide subject matter expertise on Government contracting through development of educational materials and consultation for/with government and industry.Engage with NSIN team members to analyze their new public facing program advertisements.Provide adhoc support pursuant to revolving NSIN goals and programs.Review existing NSIN standard operating procedures to make recommendations that successfully align with the organization to allow for transition of solutions to a higher rate of adoption.Aid in scoping the responsibilities of the Transition Cell.Advise key stakeholders on OKR/KPI development as they pertain to program execution.
Be responsible for post-NSIN program venture data collection, input, maintenance, and visualization.Assist in the identification, planning, and execution of opportunities to grow and strengthen the National Security Innovation Base.Research and analyze the Government market and competitive environment to identify trends and potential opportunities for ventures and NSIN.Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.Develop relevant and valuable relationships with those outside the company that provide resources, recommendations, and networking opportunities.Lead the development and presentation of information and courses of action to key stakeholders.Develop leading versus lagging indicators of success for program participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Education, Skills and Abilities:
Possess at least an earned B.A./B.S. degree.5+ years of experience working with or in the Department of Defense.5+ years of experience in early-stage venture development services and support, technology transfer, advanced capabilities deployment or delivery.Experience engaging with private capital and institutional investor groups focused on national security and dual-use applications.General understanding of the small business community and the rules associated for them to register (SAM, DUNS, etc.) and respond to RFPs.A willingness and aptitude to operate successfully as part of a remote, team-based culture. About half of our organization is dispersed throughout the United States, and you'll need to be particularly sympathetic to the remote, asynchronous nature of your teammates' work.Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.Ability to work independently and manage timelines.US Citizenship Required.Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the various ways of contracting for the Department of Defense including but not limited to SBIRs, OTs (prototyping/production), Prize Authority, IDIQs, etc.Familiarity with the defense and venture capital communities.Experience using Customer Relationship Management tools.
