Yes County New York Street Address 199 Church Street City New York State NY Zip Code 10007 Duties Description Description:The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), with over $20 billion of assets under management, is seeking an experienced private credit investment professional to lead and manage private credit-related investments in its growing internally-managed private markets portfolio. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping NYSIF’s investment strategy by spearheading private credit initiatives, leveraging your expertise in alternative assets, and fostering strong relationships within the investment community. The Private Credit Portfolio Manager will report to the Head of Private Markets. Salary will be commensurate with experience.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leadership• Lead and mentor the private credit team, providing guidance, training, and development to junior staff members.• Shape the private credit strategy by driving new initiatives and establishing NYSIF as a key player in the alternative investment community.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, accounting, ESG, custodial, etc.) to ensure seamless execution of investment transactions.• Support senior leadership on strategic projects, including asset allocation and market studies.Investment Sourcing and Diligence• Lead the sourcing and evaluation of private credit funds and co-investments, including senior debt, mezzanine, asset-based lending (ABL), specialty credit, and opportunistic strategies.• Conduct rigorous due diligence on potential investments, preparing and presenting comprehensive written recommendations to key stakeholders.• Manage procurement processes to identify and select high-quality external managers.Portfolio Development and Management• Develop and refine the framework for evaluating investment opportunities and constructing a well-diversified private credit portfolio.• Monitor portfolio performance and risk management through proactive engagement with general partners and utilizing third-party data management tools to generate quarterly updates.• Contribute to the broader private markets portfolio, including private equity and real assets.• Forecast capital flows to achieve strategic allocation targets and pacing plans.Relationship Management• Foster and maintain strong relationships with external consultants, existing managers, and internal stakeholders.• Act as NYSIF’s ambassador within the alternative investment community, cultivating a robust network to source future investment opportunities. Minimum Qualifications Basic Qualifications:• At least ten (10) years of experience evaluating private market assets, specifically private credit – with experience evaluating private equity and real assets a plus• A minimum of five (5) years of experience sourcing and vetting primary and/or secondary private credit related comingled fund opportunities• Proven track record of successful investment performance in alternative asset classes• Strong network within the alternative investment community• Excellent leadership and team management abilities• High level of integrity and ethical standards in investment practices• Advanced financial analysis and modelling skills• Preference may be given to candidates who have obtained their MBA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) credentialPreferred Qualifications:• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with ability to interpret complex financial data• Strong communication skills and attention to detail Additional Comments For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
