Position Summary: Performs chemical, histochemical, or morphological analysis on specimens using laboratory instrumentation and microscopes using GHS Lab approved policies and procedures. Ensures quality of results and determines validity of reportable results. Acts as a resource person for physicians in laboratory testing.
Qualifications
Experience: One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science or other Science, plus a minimum of 12 months in an accredited MT program required.
License/certification: Certification as an MT, MLS or CLS by a nationally recognized agency (ASCP, AMT, AAB or HEW/CLT).
Physical Requirements: Light-Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
