PRN Occupational Therapist Assistant

Position Summary / Career Interest:The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. The OTA follows the treatment care plan developed by the occupational therapist. The OTA may contribute to the activities of daily living section of the evaluation and may assist in formulating goals with the patient and Occupational Therapist as appropriate. Treatment is individualized, focusing on the patient’s goals to improve function and the person’s ability to perform daily activities.

Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsDemonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills. Assesses specific problem areas such as self-care status in compliance with the OT Practice Act in Kansas and the AOTA Roles and Supervision documents. Development of a clear treatment plan and goals will be completed after consultation with the supervising occupational therapist. The treatment plan will consider needs of the patient including the physical, psychosocial, developmental, and cultural aspects. Implements established treatment program using appropriate problem-solving. Communicates with providers and supervising OT concerning patient status, ability to progress and need for continued services. Provides treatment activities, based upon the patient’s needs and current status, incorporating OT frames of reference utilizing purposeful activity. Documentation is clear and concise and in compliance with departmental, KOTA and AOTA guidelines, and regulatory requirements from third party payers. Follows all departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Demonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills. Required Education and ExperienceAssociates Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant
Required Licensure and CertificationLicensed Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) - State Board of Healing Arts Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
