As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their outpatient experience. Your ability to work efficiently and pay close attention to detail helps facilitate a positive, streamlined experience. Ultimately, you will do so much more than count prescriptions and ring out patients. You will make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers.
A caregiver in this position works a PRN schedule, with shifts from 8:00AM - 4:30PM, 8:00AM - 6:30PM, 8:30AM - 7:00PM and 9:00AM - 1:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist pharmacists in filling inpatient orders, including completion of necessary documentation. Prepare, deliver and collect all pharmacy items throughout the medical center including re-stocking of automated dispensing cabinets. Perform floor checks, stock checks and assigned unit review as required. Assist Pharmacists in monitoring stock for outdated medications and properly dispose of them in a timely manner. Process medication returns/refunds to patient accounts and compound non-sterile medications according to USP795 regulations. Prepackage medication as necessary and according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Answer telephones and assist callers with needs that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. Interact with EPIC, our dispensing automation software (e.g. Pyxis, Carousels, etc.) and Pharmacy Keeper software, to answer all questions related to the processing of a medication order. Assist customers at service window including house staff, couriers and others as needed. Perform general cleaning duties as assigned to maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy areas. Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
