Summary
The Moffitt Medical Group is seeking a PRN Precision Medicine Specialist Provider who will serve as part of a clinical team under the general direction of the Department Chair, in collaboration with Program Leaders and Clinical Faculty in one or more Clinical Programs.
The Precision Medicine Specialist's primary activity is the evaluation and interpretation of genetic and genomic data, obtained from somatic or germ-line sources, to inform development of a precision treatment strategy for patients requiring such an approach to their cancer, in collaboration with the treating Physician or Advanced Practice Professional.
The Specialist in Precision Medicine functions as a laboratory consultant to the clinicians who are providing patient care, but does not themselves provide direct patient care. The Specialist's role includes the development of recommendations regarding existing standard of care, or (when appropriate) identification of available Clinical Trials; options for targeted therapy, identification of predictive and prognostic variables; and interpretation of genetic Variants of Unknown Significance. Participation in one or more disease-based program is required, as directed by the Department Chair.
As a PRN Faculty Member in the Division of Clinical Sciences, the Precision Medicine Specialist is engaged in the Academic activities of the Cancer Center, through education, research, and clinical care and is appointed to the Clinical Academician, Clinical Investigator, or Clinical Scientist pathway. Additional assigned duties may include community service and administrative responsibilities.
Requirements:
MD with Fellowship training in a related specialty, PhD with laboratory experience in genetics or genomis, OR Pharmacy (PharmD) with relevant experience, or equivalent clinical Professional degree. Board certified or Board eligible. Minimum of two (2) years related healthcare experience with one (1) year demonstrated familiarity with genomic nomenclature, data types and data assembly.
