Cleveland Clinic Akron General offers comprehensive radiology services including diagnostics, nuclear imaging, interventional procedures and radiation oncology. Our department of more than 200 healthcare professionals performs more than 220,000 exams and procedures each year. As a Radiology Scheduling Clerk, you will be responsible for receiving and directing all incoming phone calls to the department, acting as a first line of contact, reviewing and processing incoming orders, and scheduling various exams not scheduled by centralized scheduling.
**A caregiver in this position works days/evenings/nights/weekends.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Act as a liaison between patients and caregivers.
+ Distribute documentation of Cleveland Clinic AGMC Notice of Privacy Practices and Patient Rights/Responsibilities to patients for compliance and provide explanation upon patient request.
+ Provide assistance, education and direction to all who seek help.
+ Work in multiple systems such as the Radiology Information System, EPIC, FormFast, Order Facilitator, AGMC Portal (to obtain lab results), Hospital Information System (EPIC) and Multiple Paging Systems.
+ Answer a multi-line department phone system using Cleveland Clinic Akron General customer service script.
+ Screen callers and direct them to the proper person if further assistance is required.
+ Cross train to work at multiple work stations (inpatient, outpatient and scheduling).
+ Review orders for accuracy including the correct patient billing and medical record numbers.
+ Process all outpatient and inpatient orders coming into the department.
+ Accurately enter all procedure exam codes into the Radiology Information System according to modality specific criteria (Diagnostics, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT Ultrasound, Interventional, and PET Scan).
+ Complete all necessary paperwork and document all required information appropriately.
+ Scan physician orders into EPIC upon patient arrival.
+ Receive all incoming faxes and distribute appropriately.
+ Research, obtain and document all necessary lab results needed for patient procedures.
+ Coordinate and prioritize all paging activities to inform appropriate caregivers of Today, ASAP and STAT patient orders
+ Schedule STAT outpatient procedures according to policy and procedure.
+ Schedule complicated procedures not handled by Centralized Scheduling.
+ Prepare daily Fluoro schedules according to policy and procedure.
+ Print daily schedules and work in advance to arrive procedures in the Radiology Information System (RIS) System after patient registration.
+ Prepare pre-procedure packets and/or print worksheets according to the specific procedure and modality.
+ Follow patient identification policies and procedures when checking in and/or securing ID bands on patients.
+ Notify on-call caregivers and physicians of STAT patient orders when applicable.
+ Document all communications in ledger for accreditation (TJC, Trauma, CMS) compliance.
+ Complete daily reconciliation (in RIS) of cancelled and on-hold inpatient procedures.
+ Maintain patient confidentiality by placing all patient related documents securely in confidential container.
+ Maintain printers, fax machines and copiers with appropriate levels of stock.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Knowledge of computers and Windows applications.
+ Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Front desk experience.
+ Radiology Information System (RIS) experience.

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to either sit or stand for long periods of time, depending on the task at hand.
+ Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers and common office equipment.
+ Requires audible speech and hearing, normal or corrected vision.
