About you and this role Dow’s Glycol 2 facility within Louisiana Operations has an exciting opportunity for aProcess Automation EngineerinPlaquemine, LA. As the Process Automation Engineer, you will apply technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the Ethylene Oxide and Alkoxylation unit operations. The Process Automation Engineer will join an existing automation team which just completed the successful migration of the Specialty Amines unit to Dow’s ABB Industrial IT platform. The LAO Glycol 2 EO production unit plays a key role in safely providing low-cost EO to Dow’s growing and profitable EO Derivative franchise. Responsibilities + Develops knowledge and skills in all aspects of Process Automation to perform job responsibilities. + Obtains basic knowledge of unit operations and Chemical Engineering fundamentals for Glycol 2 assets. + Applies Global Project Methodology (GPM) and Process Automation Work Process Discipline. + Responsible for tasks such as those listed below when equipment or instruments are being added, removed, or changed. Understanding of BPCS and SIS control will be necessary. + Ensures that the process automation is safe, meets DOW Loss Prevention Principles (LPP’s) and other Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements. + Designs control strategy and control systems, as well as implementation appropriately engaging the business technology center and subject matter expert network as necessary. + Establish and/or execute project goals and planning. + Work with other engineers and expertise areas to determine the project needs and control requirements. + Develop functional requirement specification (FRS) for the system & create detailed design specifications (DDS). + Develop control software, operator graphics and simulation software. + Complete factory acceptance test (FAT) Commissioning. + Provide training of operations and support commissioning and start-up of the new asset. + Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements. + Support future process improvements and product development/solution roadmaps. Qualifications + A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a field of study relevant to manufacturing process control and automation required. + Experience with process control, code development, and automation experience is preferred. + ABB 800xA experience is preferred. + Manufacturing and operations experience is preferred. + Dow MOD5 experience is preferred. + Ability to work within the operating plants. + Must possess a TWIC cardorbe eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
