Job Title: Process Engineer
Job Description

Designs process systems, improves current processes, and resolves process-related manufacturing issues. Responsible for managing capital projects including cost-effective capital acquisitions, upgrades, installations, and required documentation.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor production processes and review procedures to ensure the manufacture of products.Facilitate problem-solving (root cause analysis) within process systems and equipment, including evaluation studies and trial runs.Provide manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and required reporting protocols of plant utilities/services including: Plant air supply system, Plant explosion protection system, Plant process water system(s), and Plant wastewater treatment system.Redesign and/or modify existing processes and procedures to solve problems or improve procedures.Design and implement new processes. Evaluate profitability, cost structure, and prepare written justification.Prepare bid criteria to vendors for approved capital equipment purchases.Coordinate and oversee the installation of new equipment and processes through start-up, debug, operation, and written procedures.Act as a technical liaison between new product development initiatives and integration into manufacturing operations, including technology transfer, scale-up, process optimization, and validation activities.Essential SkillsBS degree in Engineering or Science (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry)7+ years of Process Engineering experienceExperience handling hazardous chemicals/waste streamsExperience in continuous improvementAdditional Skills & QualificationsLean manufacturing conceptsSix Sigma Green Belt certification or higherConceptual understanding of electrics, including PLC ladder logicPneumatic conveyance system of materials, including dust collectorsPlant air and water supply systemExplosion protection systems - proper bonding, static charge dissipationBasic principles and design criteria for industrial ventilation applicationsMechanical improvements to machine designMaterial handling systemsOperations of industrial machinery, equipment, drives, controlsFull-scale unit operations of reaction chemistry, including: pressure, vacuum, heat exchange, condensation, mixing, controls, nitrogen inertness, packed bed scrubbersParticle size reduction technologiesMixing, phase separation, filtration, and rheology of chemical wastes and/or materialsWastewater treatment operations to ensure compliance with local POTW guidelinesConformance and support to EHS protocols of permitted sources per Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and OSHAProper DOT handling, storage, labeling, and shipment of hazardous materials and wastesWork Environment

This individual will float around to all three locations: Twinsburg, Cleveland, and Avon. The facility houses large color mixing machines, grinders & mills, and ovens, which can make the environment dirty due to the nature of the products. The majority of the time is spent on the floor. The tenure throughout the facility is close to 20 years, with some individuals having been with the company for over 40 years. Products include pigments, toners, inks, dyes, dispersions, paints, and coatings, serving markets such as plastics, graphic arts, cosmetics, packaging, food, and beverage.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
