Job Description
The Program
Mallinckrodt is offering an internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Summary of Position
Reporting to Senior Manager: Technical Operations based at College Park Manufacturing Facility (CPMF). The Process Development Intern will be working within the Technical Operations team and acquire a detailed understanding of technical aspects of the processes, equipment and facilities. The intern will focus their training on the development lab equipment, execute small scale models and subsequent use of these models in a process development project.
The duration of the internship can be flexible, preference will be given for durations of approximately 3 – 6 months.
Responsibilities
Train on a dedicated piece of equipment. Generate associated job aid and/or development operating procedure (DOP) and equipment risk assessment.Generate a library of data on the associated equipment.Execute a small-scale lab model according to lab instruction or protocol.Use a small-scale lab model in a process development project to assess a second source supplier.Support process start up activities through generation of relevant documentation.Generate reports of results from lab-based study.Contribute to development initiatives such as those involved in process understanding, control and capability as required.Support troubleshooting activities.Contribute to the resolution of technical investigations on plant.Support process and equipment activities on plant.Provide technical support for product changeovers.Minimum Requirements
Education / Experience / Skills:
Strong academic background in Organic/ Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, BioProcess Engineering or Biological/Pharmaceutical Sciences and currently working towards bachelors/master’s degree.Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.Shows strong work ethic and self-motivation to find solutions when presented with challenges.Analytical and/or technical experience, including FTIR, UV, HPLC, freeze-drying, purification etc.Relationship with Others/Scope of Position
Working within Technical Operations in a laboratory setup and collaborating with QC, Operations, Engineering and other functions as required.
