JOB SUMMARY

Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our team in our Orrville, Ohio facility outside the Akron/Cleveland area. He or She shall have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to develop and maintain working relationships with key Stakeholders, and the capacity to handle and prioritize multiple complex tasks.  Under the guidance of a senior site professional, the successful candidate will lead maintenance & engineering activities, drive process improvement activities and support continuous improvement/Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Develops, manages, and leads changes to optimize production and processes and improve site’s safety, quality, and environmental performance.Collaborate with production, maintenance, and EHSS resources for the development of minor to small capital project scopes and corresponding safety reviews, positively impacting safety, capacity, and productivity.Manage the full capital project life cycle for assigned scopes, including equipment and installation requirements, budgets, procurement activities, construction management, and commissioning.Support daily maintenance activities, including tracking work orders and preventative maintenance plans, coordinating third-party contractors, and procurement of spare parts and supplies.Supports Process Safety Management and Health, Environmental and Safety initiatives. Participates in safety training, incident investigations, pre-startup safety reviews, and process hazard analyses to support continuous improvement efforts. Provides process and technical expertise.Writes reports and other communications, including operating instructions, new product introductions, and process improvements. Provides technical training/communication for manufacturing of new product start-ups, product chemistry, process changes and problem resolution to plant personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university1-3 years of manufacturing plant experienceSound project management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skillsExperience working with Microsoft Office

CONSIDERED A PLUS

Good mechanical aptitudeMaster’s Degree in Chemical EngineeringExperience in a chemical manufacturing plantKnowledge of paint & coatings chemistry &/or experience as an Engineering Co-opExperience using SAP/S4, PI and/or DeltaV softwareExperience with statistical software/applications for data analysis
