Job Description

We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our team of skilled professionals at our shingles plant in Brampton, ON.

Position Overview:

The process engineer is a member of the operational management team that is focused on the performance of the process with respect to safety, quality, volume and cost. The process engineer is orientated toward continuous improvement through process optimization and innovation. The process engineer is expected to demonstrate shop floor leadership while enhancing the professional image of the operational management team through appropriate actions and communication. The process engineer is an active member of the Level 2 team and contributes to all team discussions and activities, even when these activities do not fall within normal scope of the process engineer position. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess requirements for improvements to processes, identifying improvement opportunities, cost savings, quality improvements, productivity, and reliabilityAnalyze work tasks and develop Standard Operating Procedures, and Visual Work InstructionsDevelop systems to measure and categorize waste and seconds.Implement process improvements to reduce the production of waste and seconds.Design industrial trials and presenting a proposal to the operational team for approval.Drive progress through a rigorous approach to process standardization by reviewing the process and identifying process parameters that can be locked in place to reduce process variability.Develop, monitor and execute project plans (Project Management)Ensure site compliance with corporate process standards.Support IKO’s core values and leadership behaviours

Technical/Professional Qualifications:

Relevant work experience in Process/Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is an asset. New Graduates will also be considered.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial EngineeringManage projects with a proven track record of successful projects on schedule and within cost constraintsSix Sigma Black Belt certification preferredStructured problem solving skillsDemonstrated experience with continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing5S knowledge and implementation preferredUsage of tools and processes to ensure a successful accomplishment of expected goalsProject implementation skills from initial planning stages to completionExcellent math and statistical analysis skillsUnderstanding of Risk ManagementComputer skills -- Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD/InventorUnderstanding of Risk Management

Non-Technical Qualifications:

Organizational skills; ability to manage short and long-term projectsCommunication skills; verbal and written fluency in English, effective presentation skills, ability to communicate with individuals at all levels (shop floor personnel to senior management)Effective planning skills with prioritizing, time management skillsAbility to mentor/coach Junior EngineersExcellent team player
