Process Engineer

 

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

This position provides practical, day-to-day operational support to the manufacturing/ Value Stream departments. The majority of responsibilities and duties involve daily, hands-on resolution of technical issues related to industrial machinery and department processes. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure strict conformance to engineering product specifications through the development of cost-effective processes. Apply SPC and DOE methods to data collection and analysis to improve process performance and resolve problems. Provide strong support of departmental standards for safety and housekeeping. Pursue stretch goals which continue to improve key indicators beyond conventional means which result in the lowest practical manufacturing cost. Support the introduction of new technology. Interface daily with members of various departments, which may include Finance, People & Culture, IT, Maintenance, Marketing, Production, and Sales. Work closely with operations, maintenance, and technical personnel to support day-to-day operations, on problems, and on process improvement initiatives. Initiate, direct, and support limited projects to implement innovative equipment, processes, and methods that increase efficiency. Contribute expertise to capital planning, project implementation, and product development meetings. Report on projects in timely and accurate manner on projects and activities. Engage actively in meetings and planning activities with the production department. Train production, maintenance, and special projects employees. Assist and support other locations and departments as requested.  

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

 

Bachelor's degre (B.A.) from four- year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge of CAD Design software and Microsoft Office Products software. Knowledge in Automatic Bag Making, Films, Lamination and/or Injection Molding is highly desirable.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequently standing, walking and sitting. Frequently required the use of hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery. Frequently bend, stoop and reach. Visual Acuity (VA).
