The Process Engineer is a leader in ensuring the Site's safety, reliability, and optimization.  This is achieved through continuous process monitoring, continuous improvement, problem-solving, and peer collaboration. The Process Engineer ensures the team adheres to regulations and company requirements, leading by example and setting high standards. Serving as a technical leader for the process area, the Process Engineer's influence is felt in every aspect of the role, from operations to engineering and management. This position reports to the Process Engineering Superintendent at our Augusta, Georgia Site. 

 

What you will do:

Evaluate chemical processes and unit operations to improve safety, production efficiency and rate, product quality, on-stream factor and economy Develop and make recommendations for new process designs and modifications for assigned areas to ensure safety, maximum operating efficiency, return on investment, and to permit plant operation within state and federal government air and water pollution control requirements Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Steam Balances, Standard Operating Procedures, Material Specifications, etc., in order to provide sufficient information for the Project Engineering group to prepare detailed specifications for cost estimation and construction Provide daily process engineering support to Operations on operating problems and to Maintenance Engineering on equipment performance and materials problems Review all process designs and modifications for safety implications and requirements Perform Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops), Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA), Incident Investigations and "What If” analyses on current operations and on proposed changes to plant equipment, processes, and systems via the plant Process Safety Management of Change (MOC) process Closely monitor real time and historical plant data from log sheets, data historian, lab analysis, walk through, etc. to detect abnormalities and to optimize plant operations Closely monitor quality & handling of raw materials, process chemicals, catalysts, finished products, and water treatment processes Perform and support training for Operations personnel as needed Perform month-end inventory checks, lost tons, and area reliability reports

 

What you will bring:

BS Degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited university required Minimum of 3-5 years equivalent experience in the refining, oil and gas industry, or chemical manufacturing required. Co-Op experience may be considered Willingness to work alternative schedules for short periods to assist 24/7 operations, particularly during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, catalyst reductions, and turnarounds Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to effectively communicate and interact with personnel across the organization is a must
