Process Engineer

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution Minimum of 1 year Engineering experience  

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution 3 years of experience in Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering experience in Aerospace or other regulated industry Experience in a metal working manufacturing or forging industry Experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks

Salary Range:            $70,000 to $90,000 depending on experience

Howmet Engines is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop routers and provide engineering support to the shop floor.  The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing robust implementation of new product manufacturing routers, working with Operations for product support, cost reduction, and continuous improvement activities.  This position is located at our aerospace forging plant in Rochester, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop robust work instructions Liaise with internal functional groups to ensure that Quality, Technical & Operational objectives are achieved Analyze data and make decisions based on that analysis Support activities concerned with Technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems Support Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction proposals and use Root Cause Analysis to drive process improvements Work with customers to facilitate NPI (New Product Introduction) Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases Reviews and is accountable for product design, compliant with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications Support shop floor operations with technical guidance and problem solving Be responsible for supporting Central Estimating and Sales departments when needed Other duties as assigned

Strong written and verbal communication skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals; ability to respond to common inquiries from customers; ability effectively present information to employees, peers, management and public groups Apply advanced mathematical concepts to design engineering Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
