Process Engineer - CB3 - NM Job Description

Axalta Coating Systems is seeking an experienced resin manufacturing process engineer to join its dynamic operations engineering team at our Mt Clemens (MI) site.
 
 Job Responsibilities:


•         Learn the operating process(es) to which assigned

•         Learn the technology of the process(es) to which assigned

•         Provide technical oversight and support of day-to-day operations

•         Assist Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and        

           problem solving

•         Work with Operations to improve safety, quality, productivity and cycle time

•         Identify and implement solutions for manufacturing issues related to quality, safety, raw materials, new technology, improvement plans  and equipment failures

•         Assist in Operator Training

•         Follow OSHA PSM regulations (Process Technology, PHA, Management of Change, investigation, trailing, etc)

•         Maintain operational documentation and technology information for the manufacturing processes up to date

•         Lead manufacturing technology and productivity related improvements for the 

          production units

•         Develop and apply knowledge for equipment check-out, process commissioning,  

          and troubleshooting of equipment problems

•         Develop and lead trials and tests to support product development and raw material modifications

•         Develop cost and benefit analysis for capital projects as well as execute associated activities (MOC, SOP, functional description, commissioning, de-commissioning, start-up, shut down, etc.)

•         Develop or revise preventive maintenance plans for manufacturing equipment and instruments

•         Maintain IATF 16949 documentation such as PFMEA and control plans up to date

•         Assist facility as required with technical knowledge

•         Network with global peers and leverage broader organization including R&D, 

          marketing, etc…

Requirements:
 

BS degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environmentDemonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environmentAbility to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExperience with unit operations, manufacturing equipment and instrumentation, piping as well as P & I diagramsEffective written and oral communicationKnowledge and use of designed experimentation and statistical data analysisBasic knowledge of chemistryExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and/or support others in a team environment

 
Experience with some or all of the following:  
 

Polymer chemistry experienceTrouble shooting and process improvementScale up, product introduction and alignmentQuality system requirements including IATF 16949Batch reactor equipment process design, commissioning and start-up of processesQuality and safety investigations and root cause failure analysisGeneral Process Control Systems for resin manufacturing processOSHA PSM requirements
