Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of the Position:
In this role, you will will work with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems to improve existing manufacturing processes, equipment and capabilities.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operation and actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects. Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts. Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues. Direct and/or provide support for projects involving continous improvement activities, cost reduction, process optimization, and new products. Develop and maintain systems to monitor and proactively address equipment/process performance, including trend exlporation and implementation plans. Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed during transfer.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 25% to various manufacturing sites in the division.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
8-10 hours/day; 40-50 hours/week.
Required Qualifications:
BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Materials, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Ceramic Engineering 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Environment Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization and within a multi-disciplined team Use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes Strong data analysis and statistical skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Minitab, or equivalent Determine and recommend best solution from a series of alternatives within plant guidelines Ability to communicate and present to internal and external stakeholders
Desired Skills:
Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting Project management skills

The range for this position is $79,997.00 - $109,996.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
