Job Description

Process Engineer – Fiberon Decking (New London, NC)

 

As the Process Engineer, you will play a key role in stabilizing and enhancing the extrusion processes at our New London, NC facility. You will work closely with production, maintenance teams, and OEM partners to ensure that process parameters are optimized, and that efficiency is continuously improved. In this role, you will help foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning, contributing to our shared success.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, with a background in extrusion processes and a degree in engineering. They will be detail-oriented, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and bring a solution-focused mindset to help the plant grow and thrive.

Position location: This is a fully onsite role based at our New London, NC facility, with a day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Minimal travel is required.

What You Will Be Doing:

Support and optimize extrusion processes to ensure stable and efficient production.Collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams to solve process-related issues and improve operational performance.Partner with OEM vendors to ensure equipment setup and process parameters meet best practices.Identify and implement process improvements that reduce yield loss and enhance throughput.Troubleshoot and resolve process issues to minimize downtime and maintain high-quality standards.Create and maintain process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions to ensure clarity and consistency.Promote a continuous improvement culture by encouraging collaboration and innovation through Lean methodologies.Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations by regularly evaluating processes and equipment.

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field preferred).5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on extrusion processes.Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and optimize manufacturing processes.Experience partnering with OEM vendors to enhance equipment performance.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and cooperation among teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with composite material extrusion or polymer extrusion processes.Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools, such as Kaizen events, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.Strong project management skills to lead process upgrades and new system implementations.

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $63,000 - $95,700 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.  In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
