Process EngineerPosition Overview
Shaw Industries in Columbia, SC is looking for Process Engineer to support the PI Reclamation department. The PI Reclamation takes PET waste, sorts and separates it from associated contaminants, and reprocesses it into plastic pellets. The pellets are then stored in silos and sent to other locations for processing in downstream applications. An ideal candidate would be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment while supporting associates on the floor with daily operations.
Responsibilities:
Participate in and continuously improve on Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost
Responsible for the reliability and operation of PI equipment
Responsible for troubleshooting of PI area and all related equipment
Serve as the PI process expert, with a consistent focus on improving productivity
Provides coaching to mechanics, operators, and supervisors around safety, process, and productivity
Drives root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures for off quality chip and customer complaints
Participates in customer feedback calls and customer visits
Monitors raw material changes and startups to ensure first quality and lowest cost
Utilize lean six sigma training and statistical analysis (Minitab preferred) for process improvements
Write and edit departmental SOPs

Requirements:
Must have a four (4) year degree in a relevant technical field
Must have at least one (1) year experience in a manufacturing environment or its equivalent
Must possess good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Work Shift
8 hour, day shift. Must be available on nights, weekends and holidays to support department when needed.
Can be filled as a Sr. Process Engineer depending on experience
