Job Description
Each position reports to the Plant Manager and will work closely with our team of Corporate Engineers. There is plenty of opportunity for upward mobility in this role, hence why one of the most important requirements is proven experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams. The Process Engineer works with teams like operations, maintenance, and environmental to improve the carbon black manufacturing process at the plant. They create and manage the production process, suggest improvements to equipment, and make sure everything runs safely and efficiently. The role focuses on increasing product yield, controlling processes, ensuring safety, optimizing performance, and meeting environmental standards. The Process Engineer also helps plant leaders find solutions that improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure safety, while mentoring and guiding other engineers in the team.
Responsibilities
+ Provide expert guidance to Process Engineers and the entire Engineering Department.
+ Help with planning plant projects, process improvements, and timelines.
+ Manage projects related to process improvement, safety, compliance, and plant growth. Present updates to management.
+ Research and develop new or improved plant equipment, focusing on efficiency, safety, and compliance.
+ Continuously improve production processes to maintain quality and efficiency.
+ Help other departments with production issues, using data to find solutions.
+ Work with plant operations to train staff on safety, work, and environmental procedures.
+ Collect and analyze data on production, costs, scrap, energy use, and emissions. Write reports based on findings.
+ Develop process diagrams and analysis tools, such as flowcharts and risk analysis.
+ Perform advanced calculations related to materials, energy, steam, heat transfer, and more.
+ Oversee new equipment installations and train staff on how to use it.
+ Use software to develop and test new products and processes.
+ Help maintain updated system drawings and technical specifications.
+ Participate in audits, corrective actions, and maintain the person with Standards: Ensure plant processes meet or exceed internal and external standards, including energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in either mechanical or chemical engineering
+ 5+ years proven experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve desired goals
+ 4-7 years prior engineering experience in manufacturing in a plant environment with direct understanding and troubleshooting the following functional equipment/areas: High temperature refractory lined equipment design and operation, Furnace design and reaction kinetics, Pump, heat exchangers, fired dryers, bag filters, bucket elevators, blowers/fans, compressors, etc.
+ Solid knowledge and understanding of pump/fan curves and its application to project requirements and performance needs
+ Impeccable verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present
+ Demonstrated track record of successful project management from conceptual design to final execution and implementation
+ Expert level skills using simulation and a variety of process engineering software including but not limited to Ansys CFD, Aspen Process Explorer, Aspen Plus, HYSYS
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
+ Oil & Gas experience is acceptable
Work Environment
The work environment includes working closely with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams. It involves managing and improving the carbon black manufacturing process. The role requires overseeing new equipment installations and training staff on its use. The position also involves using various process engineering software to develop and test new products and processes. Safety, efficiency, and compliance are key focuses in this role. The facility adheres to internal and external standards, including those related to energy efficiency and emissions reduction. Dress code and safety gear requirements are to be followed according to plant standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
Eligible for 10% annual KPI bonus, and annual Profit Share of 10% of eligible wages (annual salary plus KPI bonus)
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Big Spring,TX.
