Process Engineer

 

Perform engineering work in the analysis, planning, control, and operation of the manufacturing process and process equipment for the production of high purity magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide products. Work as a strategic partner with production staff to assist in environmental management priorities.  Use strong problem-solving skills, manage multiple priorities, work in a manufacturing operation environment, and work well in a team with deadlines within a planned budget.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Process optimization while concurrently managing multiple projects Manage projects to design, install, or improve process equipment Utilize engineering methods Effectively plan project expensesUnderstand plant processes; raw materials to finished productsLead and assist in process development and technical planning activities to maximize process and equipment uptimeClosely monitor operational factors which affect environmental outputs and initiate corrections as requiredPerform environmental impact assessment by evaluating potential environmental impacts of proposed projects Collect and input environmental data as requiredEffectively write technical documentationSupport plant operations, maintenance, reliability, and quality departments Other duties as required by the Manager of Engineering Services

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; will consider other engineering disciplinesTwo to five years of experience preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must keep safety above all else with visual and audible hazard recognition abilities Excellent strategic planning, organizational, leadership, and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, Microsoft Project and other data analytic systems Strong verbal and written communication skills Regularly articulate and communicate analyzed data and project status to all levels of management and workforceSolid understanding of mechanical drawings, assemblies and methodsProblem solving skillset and use of root cause analysis methods

 

REQUIREMENTS

Valid Michigan Driver’s License; ability to drive and work in all weather conditionsPass required background check, physical examination and drug screensProper use of PPE; Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, sitting and standing for extended periods
