PROCESS ENGINEER - CERAMIC/CORE REMOVAL PROCESS OWNER

Basic Qualifications

BS in Materials Science, Chemical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Ceramic Engineering from an accredited institution. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Investment Casting. Knowledge of chemical processes, especially leaching processes.  Knowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skills. Working knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Management a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

This position is located in Whitehall, MI and will support the manufacture of Single Crystal and Directionally Solidified product through process control and improvement initiatives specific to the casting process. 

Position will be responsible for:

Ensuring that Core Removal processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in the BU Core Removal manual, business operation, and customer requirements. Approve all new and revised instructions in the Core Removal area. Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications and provide technical support to Process Engineering to resolve Core Removal related issues. Responsible for reporting the critical process status on daily and monthly basis to the Core Removal Business Unit Process Owner. Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to Core Removal and react appropriately to observed conditions. Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are met (yields, rework). Foster continuous improvement utilizing process management designed experiments and SPC. Demonstrating considerable ingenuity and creativity while recognizing prudent risk. As a recognized expert in the Core Removal process technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant. Routinely review process for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of approved process.
