**Purpose/Introduction**
Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Technical team for the Golden Triangle Polymers (GTP) facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Superintendent.
**This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.** \#HPCP
**Responsibilities**
+ Construction Responsibilities
+ Acts as a resource to construction team on overall plant design and philosophy.
+ Follow all process equipment installation to ensure execution is according to design.
+ Participates in pre-start up safety walk throughs and final acceptance of constructed facilities from contractor.
+ Review and familiarize oneself of contractor design of PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, heat, and material balances, etc.
+ Assist in developing work processes that will be implemented and activated upon commissioning.
+ Commissiong/Startup Responsibilities
+ Ensure a safe startup by following tenets, all company and plant procedures, and using available technical resources.
+ Participates as startup team to ensure the plant is operating as designed and debugged.
+ Develop plan and test plant nameplate capacity and design limits to ensure successful commercial operation is possible with documented results.
+ Arrange process-related expert consulting services as needed.
+ Assist in first fill coordination, equipment internal inspections, PSSR checklist, mechanical completion punch list, and various system verifications processes.
+ Verify PRD calculation reports, specification data sheets, and supporting testing documentation is obtained from each EPC and meet industry standards.

+ Continued Operation Responsibilities
+ Participate in the implementation of projects that improve plant safety, profitability and efficiency by developing process design studies and providing economic analysis for payout projects.
+ Support operations by trouble shooting unit issues and participating in major unit turnarounds.
+ Support environmental monitoring by participating in emission calculation coverage as needed.
+ Participate in hazard analysis studies, best practice teams and benchmarking studies that improve the safety and profitability of the units.
+ Work with monitoring group to support operations planning and business units by maintaining and improving the economic models for the facility.
+ Ensure design has appropriate process control system tools incorporated for process optimization.
+ Participate in the MOC process by providing technical inputs and evaluating recommendations to ensure operational feasibility and compliance to safety standards.
+ Manages the review of contractor design of PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, heat and material balances, process calculations, and equipment datasheets
**Skills (continued)**
+ Process simulation and/or trending software experience
+ Must have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills for supporting all aspects of the unit operation issues.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills to interact between various plant personnel such as operators and plant management.
+ Candidate should be able to work both autonomously and in cross functional teams.
+ Must be able to organize and handle multiple projects and tasks to meet targeted completion deadlines.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
+ Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in process or plant engineering with a majority of the experience in support of a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing site.
