Process Engineer III

Hexcel is currently seeking a Process Engineer III for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Responsibility for the day-to-day manufacture of carbon fiber products and their manufacturing lines. Mentor and train the process engineering team.Evaluate carbon fiber processing conditions and resultant material properties and troubleshoot as necessary utilizing SPC techniques.Assume full responsibility for managing process conditions to meet specification requirements and mechanical and physical properties.Ensure proper documentation of run conditions are resultant data occurs. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies.Solve problems using cross-function teams with tools such as DMAIC and Design of Experiments (DOE).Support Operations, Quality, R&T and EHS groups by providing engineering analyses and reports. Interface with customers and supplier to solve processing issues as needed. Actively pursue and direct process improvements to improve performance, cost, etc. provide  process support for continuous improvement initiatives and complete six-sigma projects targeting known trouble areas to improve final properties and efficiency.Develop and implement carbon fiber processing conditions for new equipment and new materials.Manage qualification efforts required for new equipment, processes, and materials. Provide training as necessary to operations personnel.Provide timely disposition of nonconforming product and support root cause and corrective action activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, chemical, mechanical, or similar engineering / technical discipline. 5+ years experience in manufacturing, continuous process industry preferred. Opportunity available for varying levels of experience. Compensation will be determined based on education and relevant experience.Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Demonstrated ability to interpret extensive abstract and concrete variables.Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Experience with SPC and other statistical techniques.Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma continuous improvement programs preferred.Experience with SQL, Python, PowerBI and/or other data analytic software preferred.
