The Team
Join the Fusion team in 2025! Fusion is a rotational training program within the Applied Materials Semiconductor Equipment business unit located in Gloucester, MA. It is designed to attract, assimilate, grow, and retain the most talented engineers entering the industry today.
During the first two years of employment, Process Engineers hired into the Fusion Program will go through a series of rotational assignments and work on state-of-the-art implantation equipment which are the backbone of the semiconductor industry. Through novel engineering we are advancing processes such as doping, and material modification.
Role:
Work on ion implantation system process characterization and highlight superior performance or identify area to be improved for winning products. Interact with field process engineering and product engineering team to solve complex problems and develop Best Known Method solutions for stable process quality. Develop new ion implant process to enable semiconductor device scaling and performance/yield improvement working with IC manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect data, analyze it, and compile reports on basic process engineering experiments
Perform hardware characterization on basic systems
Demonstrate efficiency of Ion Implanters to support demos and meet efficiency targets
Troubleshoot problems, perform root cause analysis, and resolve process engineering issues
Preparation of clear, succinct reports to summarize technical results
Interact with customers to resolve basic process engineering issues/problems under direct supervision
Cross-organizational work with development and product marketing teams
Implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation
Program starts in summer 2025, on-site at our Gloucester, MA campus
Requirements
Graduating with a Doctoral degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
Must be in good academic standing with a preferred GPA above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Able to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions
Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus
Flexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven culture

$104,000.00 - $143,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
