Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries. **Scope of Position** Candidate will apply engineering knowledge to support the development and improvement of process and automated assembly equipment within the manufacturing plant. Supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost. **Key Responsibilities** + Support the Technology and Engineering teams in the design of fixturing and mechanical equipment by creating CAD drawings and models. + Support on the development and execution of equipment Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA). + Support the integration of new Controls devices such as HMIs and Vision systems. + Support on monitoring line variables through Statistical Process Control (SPC). + Support the creation of Experimentation Plans (Hypothesis test, DOEs, etc.). + Collect data and perform detailed statistical analysis (Descriptive statistics, process capability, linear regression analysis, etc.). + Lead and execute experimentation plans. •Write technical reports for completed experiments. + Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes. + Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects + Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action. + Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation and training. **Education** + Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering program. + At least 2 years of related coursework in Engineering / Technical curriculum. + Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer (May-August) with a graduation date the following year or later. + Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity. + Be willing to work at the posted job location. **Required Skills** + Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite and SolidWorks.) + Problem-solving skills. + Organizational and Time Management skills. + Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization + Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information + Results-oriented + High initiative, able to work independently, and in a team environment. + Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands. + Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions. + Demonstrated leadership or strong teamwork in accomplishing common goals. **This position does not support immigration sponsorship.** ​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
