Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

Interface with plant operators on a daily basis, providing indirect leadership in the performance of plant production lines. Identify and classify process capability problems, correct those of priority, and sustain acceptable process capability. Assist manufacturing in improving quality and capacity utilization and reducing processing costs through routine process changes. Manage expense and capital projects, when they occur, insuring operation and budget requirements. Work with the Technology group in developing new technologies or products to develop new methods of manufacturing our products. Technically analyzing the plant processes as they presently are. Work with Plant safety officer Work with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Technology, and R&D in a collaborative manner to improve yield, throughput, operating efficiency, and reduce costs.  This will be both personal and team effort. This work will generally have an incremental impact on revenues and profits. Working with an invested capital base and shared responsibility for improving these systems through optimization, improvements, and additions.

Required to participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings to meet team objectives. Must understand and comply with Personal Protective Equipment requirements for the work area. Accepts and performs delegated tasks including lead safety meetings, housekeeping inspections, completing forms, etc.

 

Working Conditions:    

Works on projects that are identified as critical through personal efforts and justifications and by others within KaMin. These projects will primarily deal with complete systems. Identifies and makes recommendations for process improvements and assists in their implementation. Selects and evaluates processing equipment and makes recommendations for plant use. Works as part of cross-functional project teams. Interfaces with internal/external customers. Works in an office and plant environment. Subject to both internal and external environmental conditions.  Required to operate office equipment. Some travel required; overseas possible, but rare. Available and willing to be on-call outside of regular hours.

 

Knowledge/Skills: 

A 4-year engineering degree at an accredited university with 2-5 years of experience in an industrial environment. The experience should include hands-on evaluation of the performance of existing and new processes, making recommendations based on these evaluations, and successfully implementing process improvements. Experience in mineral processing a plus.

 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to climb, stand, sit, and walk long distances.  Must be able to use fingers and make substantial movements (repetitive motion) with wrists, hands, and fingers.  The job requires close visual acuity to operate a personal computer, read reports, and analyze data. May occasionally ascend and descend stairs and ladders up to 30 feet on top of tanks and elevators in a safe manner. Ability to ascend and descend stairs occasionally at heights up to 180 feet on top of tanks and calciners.
