Position Summary:

 

A leading global expert in key markets & applications. Responsible for translating technical expertise into business results. This position demonstrates expertise in target markets and applications through various customer-facing channels. Responsibilities include identifying training needs and developing global technical acumen. This position trains both inside and outside the Swagelok organization, consults on new and existing product & solutions development efforts, supports key projects, and collaborates across the organization to strengthen Swagelok’s global position as a technical resource and solutions provider. Looked to internally and externally as a trusted thought leader and technical subject matter expert.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Promote and enhance Swagelok’s image and reputation as a fluid system expert upon which customers can rely 

Serve in leadership positions on influential industry and standards organization committees 

Partner with marketing communications in developing and representing industry-facing content 

Identify new opportunities through technical knowledge of customer applications 

Consult on the development of new products, services, and training  

Research and develop application expertise across common general industrial markets in which Swagelok products are used as well as future target markets and applications. 

Identify gaps in Swagelok’s applications expertise. Develop and execute on a strategy to increase global technical acumen at Swagelok sales and service centers.  

Guide development of specifications and requirements for new/existing Engineering Services offerings 

Develop and deliver training in target applications and markets 

Directs resources towards initiatives and ensures team has appropriate skills 

Continuously develops self through additional training, continued education, and benchmarking opportunities 

Develops the technical capabilities and leadership competencies of the Engineering Services group to effectively lead change initiatives 

Consult with, and collaborate, across the Swagelok commercial organization on specific customer opportunities to achieve strategic outcomes 

Advise on the direction of Swagelok’s engineering services offering in relevant  

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

 

 

Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering  

Experience:  

A minimum of ten (15) years’ experience in marketing and or engineering with substantial commercial responsibilities. 

Five (5) years’ experience working in or directly with Swagelok sales and services centers, along with direct end-customer interaction at the highest technical levels are also required.  

Ten (10) years of experience in the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of a variety of sciences and technical disciplines. Included in those ten years is five (5) years minimum of industry acknowledged expertise in multiple fluid delivery or fluid measurement topics. 

Skills:   

Must have research or work experience that establishes the incumbent as an expert in an area related to industry relevant (semiconductor, oil, gas, & chemical, clean energy) fluid system processes, equipment, or components.  

Exceptional communication skills and ability to interact with distributors and customers 

Proven abilities in leadership including evaluating, encouraging, motivating, disciplining, regarding others 

Ability to interpret and understand customer applications in order to develop P&ID and fluid schematics.   

Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects using problem solving methods to make sound engineering decisions. 

 

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

Working conditions associated with normal office environment.Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
