Cenovus Energy is seeking a process operator for our Lima Refinery site. Responsible for the operation and maintenance activities of a highly safety-sensitive chemical and petroleum process operating area. The Process operators contribute to a high reliability organization culture with continuous learning, standards and procedure compliance, a questioning attitude, watch team back up, and integrity.

What you’ll do:

Operators demonstrate leadership and ownership of safety by:

• Understanding operations and process, keeping up to date with changes, being a continual learner.

• Meeting facility targets by ensuring key safeguards are in place, knowing production goals but understanding that safe operating limits take priority over production, reporting unplanned events and taking part in pre-job huddles and after-action reviews.

• Monitoring facility conditions and solving issues with thorough shift handovers, reviewing non-routine operations, housekeeping, conducting rounds, and performing some maintenance.

• Enforcing facility standards and procedure compliance by ensuring standards are maintained and records maintained; operating a unit with understanding of things such as environmental regulations, work authorization, permit limits, and energy isolation; ensuring a safe work environment and following and enforcing without exception the refinery’s Life Saving Rules.

Who you are:

18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or GEDLegally authorized to work in the U.S.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

College coursework including any related certifications, state licensing or military service.Previous refinery or chemical operations experience.Experience working in an industrial setting / shift work.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

12-hour swing shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays and overtime as needed.Serves on the refinery Emergency Response Team and could perform firefighting duties.Work around chemicals and petroleum products under high pressure and temperature and large, high-speed machines. Operation of equipment, pumps, compressors, and control panel consoles.Climb up to 250 feet, lift 50 pounds, work in enclosed areas such as tanks and vessels, work outdoors.Maintain your face daily to facilitate a proper respirator seal.Trainee class members must pass unit certification and physical requirement tests for full employment
