Your Opportunity

Our dynamic team in the northeast region has an immediate opportunity for a Process Piping Designer with 5+ years of experience in piping design. We provide design solutions for a variety of industries and market sectors including biopharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, chemical, and food & beverage. As the successful candidate your responsibilities include generation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), preparation of 3D models of equipment and piping systems, development of detailed isometric drawings from the 3D model, and equipment arrangement drawings.

Your Key Responsibilities

The extent of duties and responsibilities will vary based on the skill and experience of the candidate. Generally presented in order of increasing skill levels and experience.

Support our Project Teams as a Piping Designer, primarily developing process piping designs in a 3D CAD environment and coordinating with the other trades to deliver an overall building design. Stay abreast of new design technologies and work with our Digital Practice Team to integrate them into our workflows. Incorporate 2D red line mark ups, developed by engineers and designers, into Revit or similar CAD applications including AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D. Training on multiple platforms will be provided; however, experience in Revit is required. Markups could include: Process flow diagram content. Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) content General notes, schedules, lead sheets, and details Incorporate 3D red line mark ups developed my engineers and designers, into Revit or similar CAD applications including AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D. Training on multiple platforms will be provided; however, experience in Revit is highly recommended. Markups could include: Equipment modeling 3D piping design Development of 3D component families (valves, instruments, pipe fittings, etc.) Independently develop 2D or 3D piping plans, models, and arrangements starting from P&IDs that schematically show the system and piping concepts. Input valve, instrument, and piping component information into database systems to develop smart P&IDs and associated lists. Generate, review, and maintain databases and lists for lines, valves, and instruments. Perform clash detection and coordination reviews of the process designs with other disciplines including mechanical/plumbing, fire protection, electrical, structural, and architectural. Facilitate active coordination between other disciplines, including mechanical/plumbing, fire protection, electrical, structural, and architectural around process equipment needs and facility limitations.  Perform field observations and measurements to document existing conditions and then model those in CAD. Assist the engineers in selecting piping system components including valves, instruments, and supporting equipment such as pumps and vessels. Assist the engineers in developing specifications for the piping systems. Develop 3D renderings and visualization models to graphically present the piping systems to clients and internal teams. Develop supporting process and process related design documents including floor plans, general arrangements, section views, elevation views, and isometrics. Perform quality control reviews of process related drawings and lists. Your Capabilities and Credentials General understanding of project document production. Experience with 3D environment Proficient with Autodesk products: Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD P&ID and/or Plant 3D The ability to interpret P&IDs to develop corresponding piping plans.
