TITLE: Project Engineer
LOCATION: South Sioux City, NE
REPORTS TO: Director Project Engineering Texture & Healthful Solutions
The Project Engineer drives improvement through a detailed understanding of sanitary equipment and systems and the variables impacting the operation. In addition, the Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting the safe day-to-day operations of the plant through troubleshooting, technical support, and implementation of capital projects. This position identifies opportunities and successfully implements change to strategically reduce manufacturing costs, optimize productivity, and minimize waste.
As a Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Is a leader in safety, demonstrating concern for personal safety and safety of others.Commitment to support and participate in our strong Safety culture of zero injury mindset.Immediately mitigates safety, health and environmental incidents or concerns, searching out assistance when needed.Ensures compliance with incident and accident investigation including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and subsequent Corrective Actions.Ensures compliance with all plant regulatory, ISO, Quality, Food Safety systems, GMP policies, guidelines, standards and requirements.Analyzing processes, developing new operating techniques and recommending changes or capital expenditures to maintain or improve business efficiencies, facility life and quality.Designing and implementing capital permits and projects as identified and assigned, within budget and on time, delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards.Providing technical support to the EHS&S and Quality Manager to design and/or redesign work processes that eliminate losses due to personal injury or property damage.Supervising and executing projects, establishing and meeting budget, scheduling and supervising project activity, training personnel, supervising start-up and coordinating with all departments.Strongly supports lean manufacturing methodologies, ensuring all team members utilize the tools, delivering results.Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies aimed at optimizing overall equipment reliability and performance.Continuous improvement initiatives, cost-saving measures, digital transformation, and downtime reduction.Lead and drive continuous improvement projects to elevate the reliability and performance of factory assets and structures.Analyze existing operational costs with a focus on implementing innovative and effective cost-saving strategies, ensuring resource utilization is maximized without compromising the reliability of operations.The Project Engineer position is well-suited for you if you have:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred), or a related field with one to three years of engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of solutions, including effective project management.Proven experience as a Project Engineer/Engineer or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing setting.Knowledge of grain processing industry and/or relevant experience in other industries (food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, chemical, or bio-chemical) with substantial experience in research and engineering - manufacturing or experience in the manufacture of protein isolate is a plus.Knowledge of engineering and unit operations, basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, drying, material handling, cGMPs, sanitary design, and energy management.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and collaboration abilities.Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.Preferred knowledge of Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.Knowledge of cost analysis and budget management.#LI-JS1
