The Role
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist will work closely with EHS Safety Manager, and other techncial managers/engineers to drive improvements in existing EHS mangement systems, including compliance for the Cork site under the COMAH and Seveso regulations as well as providing techncial expertise as required. Responsibility for Process Safety including functional safety, process safety programs (HAZOPS, LOPA etc) and process safety KPI’s.
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist is responsible for carrying out activities and programmes to ensure compliance to ATEX, High Risk Work programs including local and Corporate EHS process safety requirements. There will be a requirement to support the DGSA site requirements. The EHS Engineer/Specialist is responsible for carrying out activities and programmes to ensure compliance with the site’s ISO 4500:1/ management including local and Corporate EHS management programmes.
The EHS Engineer/Specialist will lead/interact with regulatory bodies on regulatory compliance programmes and future change requirements as required. The EHS Engineer/ Specialist will measure, monitor, and evaluate site Health and Safety performance, according to established programs and drive continuous improvement.
This role offers autonomy and ownership for assigned projects/areas/programs, whilst having the support of an experienced EHS Team.
Duties:
• In conjunction with Process Safety Protocols, leading EHS assessment/ approval of all process and equipment changes for the operation.
• Provide EHS support to a dedicated site Operation to ensure compliance with Lower Tier SEVESO and ATEX requirements.
• Interpreting all regulatory changes and provide guidance and direction to Cork site operations to ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, IE Licensing and ISO45001/ISO14001 Standard.
• Maintain relationships with the EHS team, Operational Area Managers and Functional Managers to develop and implement EHS strategies.
• EHS Business partner for core operations.
• Support digitisation program for EHS systems – High risk work, Chemical management etc.
• Working closely with Regulatory Authorities, external and internal key stakeholders, and the local management team.
• Seek out opportunities to continuously improve a proactive EHS operating culture.
• Involvement in site and EHS Goals & Objectives, Corporate Responsibility/ Sustainability goals
• H&S Management Systems - Leading Audits and Inspections, compile EHS metrics and KPIs data, trending for Corporate EHS and site Management.
Who You Are
• Essential: Degree/Diploma in Process Safety and a recognized Degree/Diploma in H&S or suitable engineering/science discipline.
• Desirable: Experience in COMAH and chemical management systems including Air Quality management programs and/or ergonomic industry design principles (machinery/equipment etc).
• 7 years’ experience in an EHS position.
• Involvement in major infrastructural projects from contractor management - compliant operation.
• Strong experience in regulatory interactions on regulatory licensing applications and liaisons.
• Demonstrated project management, program management and multi-tasking ability in large industry.
• Specialist in H&S legislation and best practice in large scale industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent technical report writing skills.
• Ability to prioritise work and work independently on technical/regulatory requirements.
