Actively promotes success of the Process Safety Management program through continual collaboration with the engineering team, TSBC, validation, facilities, EHS, and the corporate SME network. Key Responsibilities This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following… Environment Health & Safety: Responsible for application of GSK safety and environmental guidelines related to Process Safety. Promotes a safety culture; perform work in a manner to ensure safety of co-workers, equipment, and self. Leads hazard assessments to include HAZOP, HAZID, and GEMBA activities to assist lifecycle management of PSM covered processes and equipment. Interpret regulation and corporate expectations into site policy and procedure. The process safety engineer will take an active role in the process safety council and will serve as an advisor to the technical services leadership team. Quality & Compliance: Ensures all activities are executed following quality and regulatory standards. Promotes a quality mindset and a quality excellence approach to all activities. With supervision, facilitate a holistic business operation model by integrating and managing non-GMP policies, rules, practices, etc. into the current ways of working. The Process Safety Engineering Lead seeks to improve system efficiency and effectiveness. With supervision, facilitate the deployment and management of the OSHA PSM, EMA RMP, and GSK 5.13 programs. Continuous Improvement: Drive and leads change through others by constantly examining existing processes and systems to determine more efficient and improved ways to do things. Help drive the New England Region to an improved state of operational discipline. Enable and Drive Change: Adept in determining technical solutions for problems and issues and leveraging relationships and influencing others to the desired way of thinking. Ability to bridge gap between technical and non-technical arenas. Build and deploy structured tools that will position the site to sustain the improvements made through the deployment of the Process Safety program. Flexible Thinking: Delivers results by analyzing situations to determine the best solution for issues at hand. Able to think creatively and strategically to accomplish what is best for the department, site, and organization. Develop personal Process Safety Engineering skills and expertise and share that knowledge with others in the organization. Authority: Drive both team and individual performance management and training. Develop a cohesive and unified team that is aligned to department, site, and corporate goals. Responsible for Technical Writing, Formal Process Safety Training and Incident Investigations, PHIRA. Understand the need to take account of Process Safety principles in design, operation and change management of plant and equipment. GSK standards and guidelines in relation to process safety and change control. Local policies and procedures on process safety and change control. Fire and explosion risks Risk assessment process and application to process safety risks. Science of dust and gas/vapor explosions. Process safety hazards in common unit operations. Hazardous area classification and control of ignition sources. Codes and standards relating to Process Safety. Fundamental principles of Basis of Safety for unit operations. Managed process safety programs. Analyzed data on process safety across groups of sites and developed relevant interventions. Managed and improved process safety programs based on data analysis and current best practice. Audited process safety programs. Identify potential process hazards. Understand material hazard labels. Design and implement process safety programs to meet local and GSK requirements. Conduct hazardous area classification for simple unit operations and advise on implications. Assess effectiveness of existing controls and advise on different control methodology Provide input to emergency response plans. Facilitate HAZOP, FMECA and SIL studies at different types of sites. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering 5+ years’ experience in Process Safety Management Experience with FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Technical Drawings, Technical Writing, Formal Process Safety Training, PHIRA. Experience in Process Safety principles in design, operation and change management of plant and equipment. Experience providing input to process and formulation development to reduce inherent safety hazards Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Experience with Technology Transfers, Technical Risk Assessments, and Product Control Strategies. Clear awareness of process safety risks. Demonstrated understanding of the product development process.
