Job SummaryLocation: Detroit, MI
This position is responsible for the management of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the DTE Biomass portfolio of projects. The individual will work collaboratively with engineering, operations, safety, and environmental teams to ensure each plant is in compliance with all elements of the OSHA PSM standard. This position will report to the Director of Technical Services. While work hours are primarily during normal daylight hours flexibility of work hours will be necessary. This position will be hybrid if the candidate is located in the metro Detroit, MI area, otherwise dependent upon location, may consider fully remote. Travel to the DTE Biomass sites will be required.
Key Accountabilities Develop PSM and RMP standards and management system for all existing and future PSM covered Biomass sites Coordinate and participate in PHA and audits for each site at required frequency Monitor and track the implementation of recommendations and findings from PHAs and audits Facilitation of Management of Change (MOC) system across sites Ensure training requirements for PSM/RMP for affected employees are met Collaborate with Operations to ensure Operating Procedures meet PSM/RMP requirements Participate in process-related Incident Investigations and track timely completion of corrective actions Implementation and tracking of Mechanical Integrity program Facilitate and document facility PSSRs for existing facilities and participate in PSSRs for new facilities with EPC Facilitation of documentation and organization of Process Safety Information Coordinate the review, analysis and design of pressure relief and emergency venting systems Provide guidance for the assessment and mitigation of process safety risks associated with materials that are not covered under the PSM regulation Track and report performance metrics related to PSM compliance (audit, PHA, incident) action item tracking Partner with plant operations on the development of PSM compliant operating procedures Minimum Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or an environmental health & safety related field At least 5 years experience in PSM role required Experience working with state, local, and federal safety regulators Other QualificationsPreferred:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Certification or additional training in PSM Individuals with previous knowledge and experience with RNG and associated processes will be given top consideration Experience in emergency relief systems Experience in interfacing with HSE-related regulatory agencies Knowledge of state, local, and federal safety regulations Proficiency in AutoCAD
