Job DescriptionGrace is hiring a Process Technology Engineer to work at our Baton Rouge, LA manufacturing site. This position reports to Senior Technology Manager and will be responsible for providing process design/development and technical support for existing processes.
Responsibilities Develop and lead projects to increase plant productivity, decrease production costs, and improve overall EHS performance. Provide technical support primarily to the Baton Rouge site, with potential assignments involving various other Grace sites. Provide process design leadership (scope development, material and energy balances, P&ID and PFD development, Process Hazard Analysis coordination, detailed design, commissioning and startup) for mid-scale ($100K - $5M) capital projects. Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or extensive experience leading projects/programs in the chemical manufacturing industry. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant. Practical knowledge concerning design and operation of common chemical process equipment Experience with specialty chemical processes Extensive knowledge of piping and chemical process design standards, Process and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) methodology, and Process Safety Management (PSM) principles Self-directed with the ability to develop productivity projects based on close analyses of operating units Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications M.S. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Batch operations experience Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology Basic knowledge of Distributed Control and Data Historian Systems Experience in an Operations role#WRGRACE
