As part of a diverse and hardworking team of experts you will directly support program execution for Process Test Engineering for all Blue Origin products. We are seeking a Process Test Engineer for the Cable and Harness Fabrication Shop. You will have significant contributions in the areas of component specification, component selection, tool design, testing, and delivering hardware for all Blue Origin products. This position requires versatility, technical ability, effective communication, and strong project management skills.
We work with the designers, systems engineers, and analysts to plan and perform development and production test campaigns for cables, harnesses, and sensors for flight hardware to meet an aggressive production schedule. We plan and support testing on development and flight hardware.
To be successful in this role you will need to author and maintain detailed and repeatable test plans and procedures; define, procure, setup, and maintain test fixtures, and test support equipment; ensure component standardization across programs, where appropriate; oversee environmental testing of components within our test facilities; and conduct data reviews and prepare reports to ensure successful component qualification.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform engineering drawing review and drive testability and manufacturability into designs.Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the fabrication and test process.Support debugging and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.Design, develop, and implement test tools and software to automate testing processes and improve efficiency.Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.Perform and lead others in the development of specific project plans, managing risks, tracking, reporting on status, and resolving blocking issues.Document test results per program requirements and communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers with various technical backgrounds and areas of expertise.Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.5+ years of experience working with cables, harness, or sensors and including hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: prototyping, design, integration, and/or test.Experience with data acquisition and automation systems (LABVIEW, NI TestStand, etc.)Experience with DITMCO testing for electrical characterization and high potential testing.Aerospace wiring harness fabrication experience to include transition to semi or full automation.Certification or strong familiarization with IPC-620.Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment.Proficient in the use of standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment.Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the mechanical and electronic assembly product lifecycle.Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skillsMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.A continuous improvement mindset. Aerospace wiring harness fabrication experience to include transition to semi or full automation.Experience handling or testing avionics components.Experience leading failure investigations.Experience with vacuum chambers.Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.).Understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal parts and their use.General proficiency with CAD (CREO) and GD&TSoldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness/connector assembly.Green Belt Certification.Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, chemical coatings, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, etc.Understanding of safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive).Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
