Processing Lab Supervisor

Job Type: Full-Time; Exempt
Shift: Monday-Friday, 11am-7:30pm
Hourly Rate: $62K per year
Location: Hammonton, NJ


Who You Are:

As a Processing Lab Supervisor you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing all tasks in our Post Processing Lab. You'll work closely with the Lab Manager and Manufacturing team to maintain high-quality control measures throughout the extraction and purification processes, ensuring the delivery of premium products.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll manage day-to-day activities, including prepping for distillation runs, formulations, and ethanol extractions, while upholding good documentation practices. You will also be responsible for training the extraction team and coordinating shift schedules to ensure seamless operation between early and late shifts.

What You’ll Do:

Team Leadership: Directly supervise Post Processing staff, set expectations, and provide coaching, feedback, and discipline as needed. Production Oversight: Track daily production metrics and compare actual vs. expected outcomes. Training & Development: Conduct ongoing training for Post Processing staff and maintain required documentation to ensure team competency and compliance. Process Management: Prepare for efficient production by reviewing schedules, calculating batch requirements, and organizing materials for extractions, distillations, and formulations. Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain highly sophisticated extraction and processing equipment, troubleshoot when needed, and ensure lab cleanliness in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Purification & Extraction: Oversee ethanol extractions, manage decarboxylation and distillation processes, and support the development of new purification processes. Inventory Control: Maintain inventory records, manage state-issued cannabis inventory software (MJ Freeway), and ensure compliance with state guidelines for material storage and waste disposal. Clerical & Documentation: Handle clerical duties related to lab activities including data logging, filing, and maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals and products.

What You’ll Bring:

BS/BA Degree or greater in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry or similar with at least 2-3 years’ experience in a lab or manufacturing setting 2 years of experience in laboratory supervision or related roles Strong understanding of extraction processes, purification methods, and laboratory equipment operation. Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Ethanol Extraction, Winterization & Filtration, Rotary Evaporation, Distillations and Product Formulations. Ability to manage a team, communicate effectively with both team members and management, and drive operational success. Solid organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on meeting production targets and maintaining compliance. Knowledge of cGMP state regulations Familiarity with inventory management systems

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 or more pounds and frequently move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is normal. The employee is frequently exposed to an environment of natural chemical fumes, herbal aromas, airborne particles, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will have moderate exposure to conditions such as dust and particles that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or the skin, depending on department job assignments. Personal Protective Equipment is provided for employees to utilize and should be worn.
