Procurement Category Analyst

As Procurement Category Analyst, play a highly visible role throughout PPG’s Global Procurement department in supporting category manager activities. The position will report directly to the Global Procurement COE Analytics and Reporting Manager and be based out of the Pittsburgh General Office.
You will be responsible for reporting activities related to category management analyses, including specific category reporting, market research enablement, feedstock understanding, and forecasting. The data analysis and presentation will include ad hoc analyses due to changing market drivers and individual category management scope and priorities.
You will work with category managers, the procurement finance leader, the procurement leadership team, procurement business analysts, data scientists, and executive management.  This position is on-site /hybrid therefore the candidate must live within a commutable distance of the Pittsburgh Office.

Global COE
Global Procurement function within PPG is to create a competitive advantage through a supplier portfolio that maximizes value, meets quality and service requirements, and minimizes risk and complexity. The role posted below will be a key member of the Center of Excellence (COE) team within the Global Procurement function.  
The COE has primary responsibilities for Analytics and Processes and operates globally across both spend categories – Raw Material (Direct) & Indirect. The COE is responsible for standardizing, optimizing, and globalizing policies, processes, tools, and data intelligence for the Procurement function.  
 


Responsibilities:


•    Support Regional Director and Category Managers with data analysis
•    Build models, preform analysis to highlight structural savings opportunities   
•    Develop ad-hoc reporting in collaboration with stakeholders and other key contributors to identify opportunities and drive future decisions
•    Operate with knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and guidelines 
•    Develop solutions to complex and time sensitive requests 
•    Communicate clearly and effectively to others
•    Identify and prioritize multiple projects to meet or exceed required deadlines


Qualifications:

•    A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Math or Business related field of study
•    A minimum of 3+ years previous analytics, technical, and/or procurement experience is required
•    Comfortable with analyzing complex data sets and supporting conclusions accurately
•    Advanced skills in MS Excel such as building macros and automating reports and other advanced computer and analytical skills are required
