Summary This position may lead to permanent full-time employment as a Contract Specialist. Individuals who successfully complete their degree program and meet the qualification requirements may be eligible for conversion to the permanent position. The anticipated start date of this position will take place in May 2025. Position may be filled at either location: Redstone Arsenal, Madison, AL: $33,445 - $48,810 Philadelphia, PA: $35,387- $51,645 Responsibilities As a student hire, you will actively participate in on-the-job training and progressively challenging assignments that relate to your academic program, career goals, and the needs of the agency. As a Procurement Clerk, you will be responsible for performing the following duties in a developmental capacity: Maintains vendor lists, obtains price quotes, assembles solicitation packages and makes routine changes and amendments to procurement documents as required. Verifies item codes, reviews and corrects mathematical calculations; ensures accuracy of funding citations. Compiles data and prepares recurrent and special reports for use throughout the office to which assigned. Updates and maintains files of such transactions; ensures dollar amounts are correct and funding codes are properly cited; completes actions and required documentation. Monitors the status of PRs and simple contracts through daily contact with client organizations, vendors, and supply personnel (e.g. material planners) to obtain information. Support contract specialists and contracting officers in one or more procurement function related to recurring buys of commonly used commodities, goods and/or services (involving pre-award and post-award requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify you must meet the eligibility and education requirements. Your qualifications are evaluated based upon your total amount of COMPLETED education. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Students must be a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed. Current students enrolled in, and in good academic standing at, a full time program at an accredited institution of higher education; and Making satisfactory progress toward receipt of a baccalaureate or graduate degree; and Completion of at least one year of the program. Students who have completed or are currently enrolled in the following degree programs: business, accounting, human resources, management, or other closely related business degree OR a degree program that provides at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management are preferred. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: GS-3 Level Qualifications: Successful completion of one academic year of post-high school education. (One academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.) GS-4 Level Qualifications: Successful completion of two academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree. (Two academic years of undergraduate education is defined as 60 semester hours, 90 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.) Education **You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. Your transcripts must indicate a passing grade to be creditable towards the required hours. Unless otherwise stated, unofficial transcripts are acceptable at time of application. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Salary Information: The hourly rate range for the positions/grades to be filled are as follows: Redstone Arsenal, Madison, AL $16.03-$35.09 Philadelphia, PA $16.96-$37.13 (Hourly rates are base pay only and do NOT include locality pay. Actual rate will depend on the geographical location of the position.) ** Please note: Most student positions will be filled at the entry level which is represented by the lower end of the rate ranges. PLACEMENT INTO THE DLA PATHWAYS TO CAREER EXCELLENCE (PaCE) PROGRAM: Students successfully completing their education and work experience requirements under the DLA Pathways Internship Program may be placed at the GS-7 level in the DLA PaCE Program provided their position is in one of the covered career fields and they meet qualifications.
