Procurement Manager, Agricultural Commodities
This position is responsible for managing a number of commodity & ingredient categories that may include Corn & Eggs among other agricultural based commodities (soybeans/wheat etc). Supporting the manufacturing network of ~14 private label food manufacturing facilities, and responsible for category ownership including sourcing new vendors, monitoring futures markets, vendor relationship management, negotiating supply & best in class pricing, supporting quality and RDI initiatives and ensuring continuity of supply for all plants. **Employee Type:** Full time **Location:** US Works from Home **Job Type:** Supply Chain Procurement **Job Posting Title:** Procurement Manager, Agricultural Commodities **Job Description:** **Role and responsibilities:** + Superior understanding of market dynamics related to assigned commodity portfolios, quick decision-making abilities to enable strategic positions for large dollar scale categories along with understanding freight and inventory logistics to attain lowest total cost of ownership for production facilities. + Lead category strategy, sourcing & vendor negotiations and execute risk management strategy for various commodities. + Understanding and analysis of agricultural commodity futures and derivatives markets & mechanisms. + Participate in cross functional group settings to optimize ingredient supplier selection and qualification. + Negotiate in close coordination with the various Procurement Managers & Material planners/managers for local volumes, processes, quality levels and prices to achieve optimal supply agreements + Act as market expert to internal and external stakeholders. Includes both written and verbal communications as needed. + Monitor plant usage patterns and formulate buying strategies based on past usage and future forecasts. + Work closely with supply chain and planning teams to maintain plant production schedules as well as administer vendor relationships arising from logistic challenges. + Produce ingredient and commodity price forecasts for all the business, and monitor that price risk against budgeted line item prices and usage. + Initiate cost savings objectives, drive them through the business, and seek to complete high percentage of approvals. + Provide subject matter expertise while working with stakeholders and Legal in negotiation of vendor contracts. + Work closely with supply chain and planning teams to maintain plant production schedules as well as administer vendor relationships arising from logistic challenges. + Ensuring vendor compliance with company purchasing and quality policies The structure of this role will include but not be limited to the following: + Monitor and analyze assigned ingredient and commodity markets (25%) + Forecast prices and communicate commodity positions (15%) + Identify suppliers on a global basis for strategic sourcing of food ingredients (15%) + Managing supply and quality problems/issues at plants (10%) + Ensuring vendor compliance with company purchasing and quality policies (10%) + Negotiate with suppliers to achieve optimal supply agreements (10%) + Provide market & pricing documentation to support PPV detail (10%) + Communicate ingredient strategy as requested (5%) **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s Degree Required + 3-5 years of procurement experience in the CPG food manufacturing industry + Prior agricultural commodity experience + Ability to present recommendations and analysis to all levels of leadership + Strong technical and analytical skills + Excellent negotiation skills + Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic both autonomous and collaborative in a team environment + Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint + Experience with Sourcing tools such as Mintec, Keelvar and Power BI reporting + Excellent proficiency in SAP ERP applications + Travel 15 - 25% **EEO Statement:** Winland Foods believes that diversity and inclusion among our teammates is critical to our success as a global company, and we seek to recruit develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
