Procurement Manager
Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading the purchasing team and overseeing all procurement activities. This role involves planning and overseeing the work of all buyers, both on-site and off-site, training and developing buyers, and working with suppliers to ensure the best combination of price, quality, and lead time for all purchases. Responsibilities: + Plan and oversee the work of all buyers, on-site and off-site. + Train and develop buyers. + Manage project-based purchasing to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials for specific projects + Work with suppliers to ensure the optimum combination of price, quality, and lead time for all purchases. This includes negotiating pricing, delivery, and payment terms, as well as cancellation/return/warranty policies. + Establish strategic partnership agreements with key suppliers. + Support all purchasing activities such as procurement, component issues, and material returns. + Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure required performance (on-time delivery, quality, competitive pricing) is achieved and continuously improved. Establish and maintain supplier scorecards to maintain/improve supplier performance. + Provide visibility on component order status/receipt to all internal stakeholders (e.g., Project Management). + Coordinate with Engineering and Mechanical/Electrical Design functions to identify opportunities for product training (Lunch & Learns) or similar technical information sessions to enhance understanding of vendor product lines, new applications, cost savings, etc. + Collaborate with other department employees and the Global Director of Supply Chain to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement that increase operational efficiency, more effectively utilize resources, and reduce costs. + Perform other work as assigned to support projects and/or customer expectations. + Follow all safety rules and policies. + Ability to travel as required (domestic and international). + Play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities. Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience. + Must have experience in purchasing for specific projects + 5 years in a purchasing or procurement-related role. + 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role with direct reports. + Experience working in an ERP/MRP/APS environment. + Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company structure. + Self-starter, organized, highly adaptive, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Experience in contract negotiations and strategic sourcing. + Willingness and ability to learn at a challenging pace in a changing environment. + Strong attention to detail. + Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus. + Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.
