Main Purpose

The Procurement Manager leads supplier management activities and executes supplier compliance activities for assigned suppliers.  Suppliers are generally regional in nature and may span only a few sites, a business or a function. This associate is responsible for achieving savings targets, and for assigned supply base, developing value plans, supplier management and compliance activities,  and achieving value targets within the assigned sites and/or categories.

The Procurement Manager is responsible for customer relationships with stakeholders for assigned categories and / or sites, and handles a wide range of two-way communication with and in support of site procurement that arises in the course of implementation, while demonstrating close collaboration and alignment with category group leaders and global and regional strategic sourcing managers.

The Procurement Manager may be responsible for contributing the the global category teams in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies, collecting and providing regional business requirements and regional supply market information and supply practices. Performance is measured against agreed cost savings and value targets, supplier compliance as well as proficiency in the use of the applicable tools for the strategic sourcing process.

Additionally, there may be opportunities to lead a sub category or sub categories, leveraging the strategy developed for the main category and considering sub tier supplier relationships.

The position reports to the Sr. Procurement Manager, managing North American suppliers in support of Global Category Managers and will have responsibility for managing suppliers and supporting strategies in the Electro-Mechanical category at a minimum. Support of subcategories in this space may be required.

35% - Category Strategy Implementation

25% - Global Procurement Initiatives

40% - Supplier Relationship Management – Innovation, Compliance, Process, Escalation resolution. May perform other duties as required

 Scope of Responsibility:

Strategic Orientation

The Procurement Manager executes sourcing strategies for the assigned sites and / or categories as defined in the three to five year roadmaps, and as directed by the Global Category Manager Manager.  The assigned scope is generally broad in nature over multiple sites.

Implementation activities generally include overall project management, procurement aspects of supplier qualification, risk mitigation programs, and appropriate implementation of the source-to-pay process inclusive of customer-centric support content and preferred payment methods.

Sphere of Influence

Executes responsibilities with a large degree of autonomy, requiring minimal day-to-day oversight by immediate supervisor

The position reports to the Director of Procurement and plays a critical role in influencing the success of key performance metrics including financial performance, value delivery and assurance of supply for material and services.

The role also influences a broad network across organization and business to drive and align on strategy execution. Influence extends to peers, team members, sites, functions and key stakeholders.

The target audience on interaction internally is typically at Manager and Director level but may include Vice President and BU President depending upon the situation. 

This position has no direct reports.

Impact on Business Results

Degree of Accountability:

Accountable to Procurement and Operations Leadership for strategy execution and supply base management activity; implementation of projects generated by sourcing strategies and Global Procurement initiatives.

Financial Impact

Support/lead activities towards achieving target goals re cost savings/gross profit enhancement.  

Budget Responsibilities:

Reports projected unit pricing on a quarterly basis to support BU/OPS budget development 

Impact on Cost: 

For direct categories in the portfolio, accountable for compliance to corporate procedures for designated suppliers within the assigned region, including supplier relationship management activities. Responsible for the delivery of savings and value, including Class I and Class II commitments, and Purchase Price variance (PPV).

Knowledge

Working knowledge of Supply chain/inventory management systems

- SAP, Aravo, Sievo or equivalents

Regulatory and Compliance concepts

Working knowledge of the Medical Device Electro-Mechanical marketplace, including, but not limited to Power Supplies, Cables and Connectors, and Instruments and Software

Skills

Cost management practices

Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing process knowledge

Education/Degree - Bachelor's degree in a related field

Certifications (if applicable) - NAPM/CPSM/APICS certification

Experience - Five (5) years minimum
