Job Summary
This position will be split between procurement and product compliance responsibilities. The general responsibility of procurement is to ensure we purchase high quality materials at the lowest possible cost with no supply chain disruptions. Essential job functions include data collection, product quality comparison, analyzing spend data, assistance with RFP’s, monitoring vendor performance, managing pricing files and documenting cost savings. The general responsibility of product compliance is to ensure all products sold are properly registered within the states and required tonnage fees are paid on time. Essential job functions include submitting monthly, quarterly and annual tonnage reports, renewing and submitting new product registrations, collaborating with sales and marketing on new product development and maintaining records of all registrations. Some travel may be required.
Job Responsibilities
Review and analyze monthly spend data and seek savings opportunities
Evaluate product quality and performance
Review national program spend and track participation across all facilities
Prepare RFP documents to send to potential vendors
Analyze RFP data, calculate savings and prepare leadership summary reports
Maintain organized pricing files for different spending categories and vendors
Gather information from manufacturing sites to assist in procurement initiatives
Develop analytical tools to improve team efficiency
Participate and collaborate during team meetings
Report project savings and update information in Ariba
Maintain project pipeline to keep track of future savings opportunities
Keep current on corporate procurement projects and initiatives
Work toward becoming a subject expert for fertilizer, soil amendments and liming material registration requirements
Proactively identify changes in Fed, State or Local regulations, using State and MSC resources
Provide feedback and input into market opportunities and threats resulting from changing Rules & Regulations
Ensure product registrations and licenses are renewed on time for nearly 200 items and 48 states
Review currently registered items and recommend cancellations of obsolete items to minimize costs
Recommend items that should be registered to avoid potential “stop sale” orders
Register new items in a timely manner as directed
Become familiar with products, customers and potential customer distribution of our products
As it relates to the Value Proposition, become familiar with competitive products and product performance claims
Collaborate with the sales and marketing team during new product development to ensure all state registration requirements are met
Working with Marketing & Technical Services, determine claims to be made to enhance Consumer Experience and OCLG Value Proposition
Collaborate with the demand planning team to be sure new items added to the forecast are registered in the states we sell
Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual tonnage reports are submitted to each state on time
Maintain files of what products are registered in each state, when they were last renewed and when the next renewal is due
Participate and collaborate during team meetings and new product development
Develop strong business relationships with state officials who handle product registrations
Promptly report issues or delays related to product registrations
Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
