Procurement Specialist

Location - Clayton NC

 

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for working within a regulated environment to procure the materials necessary for the manufacture and distribution of healthcare products, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships, negotiating contracts that are in the best interest of the company, participating in evaluating supplier reliability, developing new supply sources and procuring materials to support production.
 
Primary responsibilities for role:                            

Development of sourcing and contract negotiation strategies for the acquisition of all goods and services for assigned functional areas, ongoing management of those relationships, and assuring compliance with policies and procedures. 

Collaborating with internal customers in the development and preparation of commodity specifications, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Bid Analysis, Contracts and Supply Agreements, Sourcing Project Plans, and analyses of trends and conditions of the markets.

Manage supplier relationships and resolve discrepancies/problems in contract execution.

Spend analysis and development of sourcing and cost improvement opportunities.

Negotiating and completing contracts for the individual centers.

Manage special projects as they are identified. 

May enter purchase orders in SAP and serve as back-up to buying staff in entering orders.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

ERP implementation/system knowledge (preferably SAP) and experience with e-Procurement tools is strongly preferred.

Strong contract experience and data management experience required.

Background in sourcing initiatives and procedure compliance initiatives (SOX, contract management).

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Excellent customer service and vendor relation skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Must Possess excellent project management skills (as demonstrated by past project activities).

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree. MBA/MS degree preferred

A minimum of 5 years of related purchasing experience.

Certifications in CPM, CPSM, etc strongly preferred.

   
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.   Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
