The Procurement Sr. Specialist negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines.

 

Working knowledge of legal aspects of purchasing/procurement as required by federal, state and local levels of public laws and regulations, UCC, and DFARS is required for this role. Prior DoD procurement experience and use of IFS software is preferred. Must be comfortable with the use of MRP systems and electronic purchasing modules.

 

The Procurement Sr. Specialist has demonstrated working knowledge of purchase order documentation (single/sole source, source selection, price/cost analysis contract flow down, cost accounting standards, certifications etc.) and its significance within the procurement process, as well as demonstrated skills in negotiations of major procurements/prime contracts. The Procurement Sr. Specialist has excellent problem-solving, planning, organizational,and communication skills. Responds promptly to customer needs, demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles with a sense of urgency, and works within the highest level of integrity and safety while working under limited supervision.

 

Major Position Responsibilities Develops and executes sourcing strategy, evaluates product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments. Gathers business requirements and identifies and pre-qualifies potential suppliers.  Develops and distributes RFPs/RFQs and collects bids or other information.  Evaluates proposals/quotes based on offering quality, cost, or other criteria and recommends suppliers that are best suited to meet the organization's requirements.  Works with selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements.  May oversee tactical purchasing operations, such as the issuance of purchase orders or the payment of invoices.Ensures that all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations. 

 

Basic Qualifications Required Education: Associate's Degree or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & ExperiencePreferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management or related degree5-7 years of relevant experienceAbility to work as part of a team. Decision-making skills. Oral and written communication skills. Analytical thinking skills. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines.Proficient with use of Microsoft Office

 

Pay Range (USD) $82,005- $152,295 Additional Compensation Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program. Benefits Employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and basic life insurance as well as pre-tax spending accounts. Employees are also able to enroll in the company's 401k plan and are eligible for the Non-Contributory Retirement Contribution.
