Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)
Salary: $80,000 (12-month position)
The Philosophy Department at Binghamton University, State University of New York, is seeking applicants for a Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Fellowship is for two years, with the goal of conversion to a tenure-track assistant professorship at the conclusion of the fellowship. The fellowship has a teaching obligation of one course per academic year in the area of the Fellow's research, and comes with a highly competitive compensation package. The area of research specialization is Social and Political Philosophy. The standard teaching load for tenured and tenure-track faculty in the Philosophy Department is 2/2.
The Fellow will join a vibrant intellectual environment. The Philosophy Department is home to the graduate program in Social, Political, Ethical, and Legal Philosophy (SPEL). SPEL is distinctive in supporting a diverse scholarly community engaged with value theory from multiple (including non-western) historical traditions as well as from a variety of contemporary approaches. The Fellow will be welcome to participate in colloquia, reading groups, and other department and graduate program activities, will have opportunity to interact with graduate students, and will be actively supported by department faculty, many of whom are likely to have partly overlapping research interests. The Philosophy Department will strongly support the Fellow's research with the goal of converting their position to a tenure-track assistant professorship at the conclusion of the fellowship.
The Fellowship is part of the SUNY PRODiG+ initiative that focuses on two goals: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these faculty.

Job Requirements:
Eligible candidates must demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations. Also, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship, and have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or related discipline from an accredited institution completed prior to the start date.
Preference shall be given to candidates who are (1) current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows, and/or (2) from low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
