Producer Relations / Contracting Specialist
We are looking for a Producer Relations / Contracting Specialists for JBS that strengthens JBS relationships with new and existing producers. These roles will be based out of Plainwell, MI.
Responsibilities:
Strengthen JBS relationships with new and existing producersGrow JBS producer populationDevelop or help develop plant specific procurement strategyExpanding the number of cattle contracted to JBS plantsResponsible for some cattle procurement and associated activitiesResponsible for cattle contracting from cattle feedersResponsible for cattle procurement and associated activities within a certain region based on plant locationsWork with independent contractors to satisfy cattle needs for the companyWork with cattle feeders to monitor cattle numbers in their respective areaBidding procedures and pricesResponsible for 3 or 4 state area for contracting cattleCommunicate estimate grades, estimate yields, and cost to next day kill for Head Buyer or Cattle ProcurementTravel to farms to purchase and evaluate cattleFrequent communication with contracting manager, head cattle buyer, coworkers, accounting department, and other plant personnel regarding purchasing, quality, and quality of live cattleFrequent communication with farmers and truckers regarding purchase, quality, quantity and delivery of live cattle Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum High School diploma with agriculture knowledge and backgroundMinimum 1-year previous experience in cattle procurement Ability to visually assess weight and potential yield of cattleGood verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to physically maneuver among and manipulate live cattleEmployee will typically work M-F with some weekend hours as neededApproximately 75% of work time will be traveling throughout Iowa, Minnesota, and Indiana.
